A warm welcome to Nicolas Daeppen, who’s joining our team as General Manager of
Forty 1° North. Nicolas brings with him an impressive 20 years experience in hospitality and hotel management at some of the world’s finest properties.
His early years were spent in Montreux, Switzerland, a town of 22,000 people on the northeast shore of Lake Geneva, at the foot of the Alps. Fond memories of pastry making in the kitchen and at local restaurants there cultivated a passion for good food and good service. Nicolas went on to study at the Hotel Management School in Lausanne, Switzerland, and soon after moved to the States to pursue his dreams.
His experience includes Food and Beverage Director at the world-renowned Hotel Nikko and Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts in San Francisco, Boston, Chicago and New York; General Manager for New York City’s premier Helmsley Hotel; and most recently, Vice President of Sales and Business Development for a celebrated NYC special events and catering company, Great Performances.
While he’s worked in many big cities throughout his career, Nicolas’ roots are in smaller towns where he can really get to know the people and the places. He looks forward to making Newport and Forty 1° North his home.
