Since my arrival in Newport a week ago, I have been greeted with many phone calls and
e-mails from our guests. I want to thank you for the warm welcome and continue to encourage you to share with me your thoughts and ideas for Forty 1° North.

Our staff told me I would feel this way, and now I am delighted to experience it firsthand – when on the Forty 1° North property I feel transported, renewed. How exciting to have this sense of relaxation, this beautiful setting, right in the middle of downtown Newport.

I spent two days this week visiting with our property designers, DAS Architects. Their vision is a wonderfully modern take on traditional forms. Much like the marina pavilion and The Grill, the new spaces to come this year will inspire and invite guests to learn, taste, laugh, enjoy and experience Forty 1° North in ways that are new and at the same time authentically Newport. What’s more, we’re seeking out style in the sustainable, leveraging some of the latest technology and design strategies to make Forty 1° North a national leader in “green” resort design.

Plans for the opening of the season on May 22 are also keeping our staff busy. We know you will be delighted with the additions to The Grill menu, which will begin with the best locally-sourced seasonal ingredients to create culinary masterpieces. Musical performances and special events throughout the summer are also being planned.
