The winter is upon us here in Newport but that doesn’t mean we are going to stay confined to the indoors. Forty 1° North would like to remind you of some wonderful child–friendly activities available right here in Newport. Also, remember that kids eat FREE when an adults order a Big Plate at Christie’s.
Artful Readers
Children between the ages of 2 and 5 and their parents are invited to the Newport Art Museum’s Griswold House every Wednesday at 11 am for a mid–morning imaginative exploration. Kids will read both classic and modern children’s stories in the museum’s galleries. Immediately afterwards, everyone is invited to stay and create a small art project.
Cost: $5 per child for members; $8 non–members. Adults are free. No registration required.
Bird Tales
Every other Wednesday, Norman Bird Sanctuary offers a nature–focused, interactive craft project that taps into the creative minds of children. The adventure starts with a children’s story. Next, the children will have the opportunity to meet an animal on the property, go on a discovery hike, and to complete a craft project encompassing what they have learned. This educational program is geared towards children ages 2–5, though all ages are welcome to attend.
Cost: Suggested donation of $2 per child for members and $4 per child for non–members. Adults are free. Registration encouraged but not required.
